Sling TV Review – Cable TV Alternative Starting at $20 Per Month

Sling TV has taken the entertainment industry by storm. It is offering TV viewers amazing plans that bring them both on-demand and live TV, just like pay TV, but at prices that look more like those of streaming services. The consumers are loving the experience. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Sling TV offers a lot more than just this. Here are all the plans and programming that Sling has to offer. This should help you learn everything you need to know about the service.

Standard Plans

Sling TV is the closest thing you can get to a-la-carte TV service. That is how customizable its services are. It offers three pre-packaged plans, so that its users do not have to do all the hard work. Here are the plans:

Sling Orange

The cheapest of all Sling Plans, Sling Orange costs only $20 a month. It offers more than 30 channels to its subscribers. Though the channel count is low, they are all popular and quality picks. You will have access to ESPN, AMC, CNN, Comedy Central, TNT, TBS, Food Network, History Channel, and more. All these channels ensure that you get to enjoy a little bit of every type of programming. Further, you get access to the on-demand library of Sling TV, which means more entertainment. Sling Orange offers you only one stream per subscription, which can become quite limiting.

Sling Blue

This plan offers more entertainment options with over 40 channels. It is priced at an affordable monthly fee of $25. Just like Sling Orange, this pack offers a mix of popular and niche channels. You get all the channels that are offered in the previous plan, plus some more. The good news is that the extra $5 not only bring you more channels, but multiple streams as well, which obviously sweetens the deal.

Sling Orange+Blue

As the name suggests, this plan offers everything that the Sling Orange and the Sling Blue packs do. The price obviously goes up and this time, it’s a $15 jump. This pushes the monthly subscription fee of Sling Orange+Blue pack to $40.

This is a really cool addition by Sling TV. ‘Extras’ are add-on packs that Sling TV has curated to appeal to the unique tastes of each of its subscribers. Each of these add-on packs includes channels that offer niche programming and are offered together for a flat price of $5 per month. That’s right, just $5 a month. Here are all the currently available ‘Extra’ packs with Sling TV.

Sports Extra:  If you are not satiated with the sports channels that you get with your standard plan, you can always get this Sports Extra. It offers channels like NHL Network, NBA TV, ESPN Bases Loaded, ESPN Goal Line, Motors TV North Am, Campus Insiders, PAC12 Network, and more, taking the total sports channel count to 15.

Kids’ Extra: Subscribers can look forward to getting popular channels like Disney Junior, Nick Jr., Nicktoons, Boomerang, Baby TV, and more with this pack.

Broadcast Extra: This pack includes channels like Univision, Unimas and ABC. It is already included in the highest Sling Plan. So subscribers of that plan need not buy it.

World News Extra: For an Orange subscriber, this Extra gives them access to BBC World News, News18, HLN, euronews, NDTV 24×7, and more. A Blue subscriber will get MSNBC and CNBC in addition to all these channels.

Hollywood Extra: Get ready to be dazzled by the world of cinema with channels like TCM, Sundance TV, all the Epix channels, and HDNET Movies.

Comedy Plus Extra: Laugh your hearts out with comedy shows and stand up acts on channels like Logo, TV Land, TruTv, MTV, MTV2, GSN, CMT and Spike.

LifeStyle Extra: If you are looking for music, travel shows, cooking channels, or other niche programming, turn to this Extra. This pack brings you channels like VH1, FYI, Cooking Channel, Vibrant, BET, DIY, Hallmark Channel, Lifetime Movie Network, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, WE TV, Oxygen, and E!

Premium Packages

Let’s come to the premium packages. Sling TV allows you to add certain premium channels like HBO and Cinemax to your basic Sling TV plans. All the premium channels are grouped into premium packages, each of which cost more than the add-on packs. For instance, the HBO pack gives you access to all the HBO channels for a monthly fee of $15.

Regional Programming

All of this international, national, and premium content on offer should be enough for most TV viewers. But, Sling TV is not done yet.

Apart from the standard plans, Extras, and premium plans, it also offers regional programming. These channels are included in the Regional Extras and they can cost anywhere between $5 and $15 a month.

Best of Spanish TV Extra: Enjoy the famous telenovellas and movies with a pack of 15 Spanish channels for just $5 per month.

Caribe Extra: Enjoy some Caribbean entertainment at just $5 a month for 7 channels.

Hindi Channels: This is for the Hindi-speaking Indian population, who can get their desi fix at a monthly fee of $5.

Chinese Extra: Cannot find native Chinese entertainment anywhere? No worries. Sling has it. You just have to pay a mere $5 a month for as many as 13 Chinese channels.

Italiano Extra: Enjoy some exciting Italian television and movies with this Extra pack by paying a monthly subscription fee of $10.

Urdu-India Extra: Pay just $10 a month and get 8 Urdu channels for your entertainment.

There are many other extra packs like Sudamerica Extra, Espana Extra, Shahid Arabic Extra, TV Globo Brazilian Extra, and World Music Extra that offer multiple channels at different subscription fee.

Once you have customized your plans to your preferences, you will realize that the cost of your final a la carte package is way cheaper than your pay TV subscription. In fact, even if you buy everything available from Sling TV, it will come out to be $194 per month. Needless to say, no matter which pack of add-on you choose, you will never exceed this number. Moreover, you will be paying only for the channels that you want to watch. There is no service fee, no installation fee, no equipment fee, nor any other hidden charges. What’s more, with Sling TV, you can change your plans every month and pay only for what you wish to watch that month. This is true freedom, indeed.

Joe Murray Biography

Joseph David Murray, also known as Joe Murray, is an animator, voice actor, producer, and director. Joe is best known as the creator of the Nickelodeon show, Rocko’s Modern Life, and the Cartoon Network show, Camp Lazlo. Joe is part of the fresh crop of independent animators, who are not afraid to experiment with their creativity. Joe used his characters to openly make fun of a variety of things that we hold dear, and at the same time, made us rethink our priorities. Perhaps, this is not surprising since Joe was at one point hired as a political cartoonist, and he spent quite an amount of time making fun of Jimmy Carter.

Joe was born on May 3, 1961 in San Jose, California. He developed an interest in art since the age of three. But, it was his high school teacher, Mark Briggs, who stoked Joe’s passion for art. Joe credits Mark for teaching him “so much about my art”. By 16, Joe was already a full-time artist. He began his career as a political cartoonist with a newspaper and was later hired as a designer by an agency. Joe saved up the money he earned in this job to start his own illustration studio, Joe Murray Studios. This was in 1981 when he was still in the University. However, it wasn’t until 1986, when he joined De Anza College that he started focusing his talents on animated videos. He created several animated videos at the time, out of which The Chore became the most popular. The Chore, a two-minute video of a harried husband using a cat to inventively escape doing a chore for his wife, ended up winning him the Student Academy Award two years later.

Murray’s third independent film, My Dog Zero, was released in 1992, but got no takers. He considers it his most gratifying artistic projects because he was able to complete it despite unbeatable odds. He had no funding, no distributors, and no resources. In fact, he approached Nickelodeon with the idea for My Dog Zero, who felt that it won’t work as a show. Faced with rejection, Murray dug through his piles of sketches. Out of them, he picked the character of Heffer Wolfe, which he had used in the MTV network ID. Building on the character, Murray developed the idea for Rocko’s Modern Life. After four months, Murray received a call from Nickelodeon informing him that they liked the idea and wanted to work on a pilot. Murray was happy that with this, he finally had the funding for My Dog Zero.

After completing 4 seasons of Rocko’s Modern Life, he took a break from the industry, and focused on children’s books. His surreal work and color infused characters were an instant hit with the children. But, the animation industry kept beckoning him, and this time he sold his work, Camp Lazlo, to Cartoon Network. In 2011, Murray started his own web network, KaboingTV, where he featured some more independently developed web series. He raised the necessary funds for the project on Kickstarter. You can watch a lot of Joe’s work by way of online streaming when you sign up for one of the Charter Spectrum Internet Plans at

Murray currently lives in Southern California with his two lovely daughters.

Can unexpected pregnancy ruin Jane the Virgin’s life?

Jane The Virgin Logo

Unexpected pregnancy can turn the world upside down, especially, when the woman in question has never had sex. Bewildered? Well, so was Jane Villanueva, who discovered she was pregnant despite being a virgin! The American romantic comedy-drama series “Jane The Virgin” revolves around the life of Jane, who one day is just a normal young adult, and the next day she’s been artificially inseminated by a doctor, who gets her procedures mixed up. Jane herself is a college student, and working as a waitress to make ends meet, and has plans to become a writer.

Created by Jennie Snyder Urman, the show premiered on October 13, 2014 on The CW. It is adapted from the Juana la Virgen, a Venezuelan telenovela created by Perla Farias. The program showcases all the commonly used plots and twists, characteristic of Latin telenovelas. The series has been welcomed enthusiastically by the critics since its premiere. At the 72nd Golden Globe Awards, it was nominated for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy, while Gina Rodriguez won the award for Best Actress – Television Series, Musical or Comedy. Other than this, the series also received the Peabody Award and an AFI Award, and has been nominated for Critics’ Choice Awards, as well as TCA awards.

The Plot

The series expresses the surprising and unexpected events that happen in the life of Jane Villanueva, a hardworking, young Latina woman living in Miami. She is a god-fearing person, who has taken a vow to protect her virginity, until she marries her detective fiancé, is broken. She is mistakenly artificially inseminated during a routine checkup. If it wasn’t already enough, the situation gets worse, when the biological father turns out to be a married man and a former playboy, on whom she used to have a crush. He is also a cancer survivor who not only owns the hotel Jane is working at, but was also Jane’s adolescent crush.

The Cast

Gina Rodriguez is cast as the main protagonist, Jane Gloriana Villanueva. After meeting the biological father of the child, Rafael and hearing his situation, she agrees to give birth to the child and turn over the custody of the child to Rafael and his wife Petra, but only after making sure the safety and love of the child. But, with the growing pregnancy, the feelings in between them also bloom. According to the producer Gina Rodriguez was “literally the third person” that came during casting.

Jane is a young woman who decided to keep her virginity intact due to her moral values. She is not socially awkward or uncomfortable, although she would never accept it herself. She is certainly not immune to any sexual attractions or temptations. She is intelligent, beautiful and also normal – three of the characteristics which are very rarely connected to a virgin in a television show or movie.

Jane also more or less prefers to use God’s name as a petition than a swear word. “God has a plan”, which is not so surprisingly supported by her grandmother, Alba. And while people do make

a lot of mistakes in this TV series, a lot of them are trying to do something good and not for their own selfish reasons, but for the sake of others too.

Andrea Navedo portrayed the role of Xiomara Gloriana Villanueva, Jane’s mother. She had Jane at a young age of sixteen, which is mainly the reason behind Jane’s resolution of being a virgin until marriage. Justin Baldoni plays Rafael Solano, a hotel owner. He is the accidental biological father of Jane’s yet to be born baby. His relationship with his wife is in shambles and no more loves her. As the series flows, he decides to divorce Petra because of his feelings for Jane, as he comes to know that his wife is involved in an extra-marital affair.

Brett Dier portrays Michael Cordero, Jane’s 29-year-old ex-fiance and detective. He is well aware of Petra’s love affair and uses that to blackmail her. He wants Petra’s wedding to not fall apart, so that Jane gives the child to them after the birth. He also dislikes Rafael due to his and Jane’s increasing closeness. Yael Grobglas plays the role of Petra Solano, Rafael’s wife who only got married to him in order to steal his money. She plays the role of an antagonist in the series. Ivonne Coll plays Alba Gloriana Villanueva, Jane’s virtuous maternal grandmother. Being highly religious, she encourages Jane to remain a virgin up until her marriage. She is not able to speak in English, but she understands it perfectly well.

The Reception

Jane- the Virgin- Villanueva is played by Gina Rodriguez

The show has come as a refreshing change to the usual soap operas on American television. The creators have done a marvelous job here. The somewhat far-fetched premise is partially based on the Latin American telenovela, which makes it an unusual find on the mainstream American Television. With the complicated character relationships and plot twists, plus plenty of deceit and manipulation, it is interesting to find this often heartwarming drama-comedy on primetime TV.

It’s certainly the only show, streaming right now, that requires a full-time narrator just to keep all the plot strands straight. It’s silly, salacious and proud to be so. Characters move in and out of bed without batting an eyelid. Most of the characters have some sort of horrific secret that they are dying to share with the audiences, while simultaneously terrible news and deaths lurks around every corner.

Jane the virgin new season 'Chapter thirty one'

And yet “Jane the Virgin” as a complete show, like its main protagonist, is sweet, well-meaning and surprisingly pure. Perhaps the word “pure” may not be very appropriate to use in here. The show is not shy about certain content that it showcases. Despite all its issues, there are still some factors present that add to the appeal of the show. These are the ones that make the audiences come back for more.

As for the further long-range-plans of CW’s for these series, there may be some bigger mysteries and treasures for Jane in her journey. God’s plan for Jane will certainly be a more sordid one. Just hop over here and find out how to watch this an other great television shows anywhere you go.

Home Entertainment Comparison

Satellite TV

Costs (every month): Varies

Selection: Large

Satellite TV is relatively inexpensive and it is more affordable when compared to Cable TV. The downside of Satellite TV is the fact that it cannot endure bad weather conditions. With Satellite TV, you can expect a long- term contract. Furthermore, you can also install it anywhere where you can set up a dish and you will get service.

Cable TV

Costs (each month): Varies (more expensive than satellite)

Selection: Large

Both Cable TV and Satellite TV are great choices, however from the two Cable TV will be a better choice since it can endure bad weather conditions. Cable TV offers a multitude of movies and TV shows, and it is a bit more expensive compared to Satellite TV. The drawback of Cable TV is the fact that there needs to be a Cable TV firm in your area that will be able to set up the cable to your home so that you can receive service.  For this reason, people that stay in rural areas won’t be able to make use of Cable TV. But, for those that are apartment renters or for individuals that prefer not to be attached to long-term contracts, this will be a good choice.

PlayStation Vue

Costs (per month): $50

Selection: Good assortment

PlayStation Vue can often be compared to Sling TV, for the reason that both use the internet to stream movies and shows and neither of them require a contract. However, PlayStation Vue comes with a $30 price increase. The good thing about PlayStation Vue is the fact that it doesn’t require any extra USB sticks or boxes. For the additional $30, clients can expect a couple of extra features. On the other hand, PlayStation Vue is only available to people who reside in New York City, Philadelphia and Chicago, and these people have to be in the possession of a PS3 or PS4 to use it. If you are among those people that fall into this slim group, you can test PlayStation Vue for free, making use of their trial.

Traditional satellite and cable TV are dying, and the industry is familiar with it. And the fact that internet access can now be acquired by all people, it’s wise that competitors are looking to shift their attention onto digital streaming, however satellite and cable TV continues to have several benefits whilst still holding a huge percentage of the industry. Why? With traditional TV, you will never have to worry about something to watch, and you will always come across a new show. Furthermore, if you choose the correct package, according to your interest, you will be investing your money wisely.

It is possible to decide on a Roku TV, Roku box or streaming stick. As soon as you purchase the device, you will find no monthly fees. Roku provides you with more than two-thousand channels, and they add more on a regular basis. Roku is growing to be more and more popular for a substitute to cable because of the one-time cost and the continuously growing variety.

Costs (each month): $7.99

Selection: Great collection of more recent shows and movies

In case you don’t have cable, but would like to stay up do date with the most recent movies and TV shows, then opt for Hulu. They have an incredible collection of TV shows and new releases which is updated daily. Hulu has an extensive range for everyone, for instance, kid’s shows, like Dora and Spongebob, as well as new releases like Grimm and Agent Carter. They also provide an excellent collection of reality shows.

Amazon Instant Video

Costs (each month): involve a $99/year Prime Membership fee

Selection:  TV Shows and movies, both new and old

While Amazon Instant Video requires a $99 annual Prime membership, this membership comes with a free 2-day shipping on virtually every purchase you make at Amazon. Another downside would be the fact that even though you pay for Prime, this does not mean that all movies are free, you will still find that there are certain movies which require a rental fee of $2.99. With this $99 annual Prime Membership, users can expect a multitude of movies and shows to choose from. Furthermore, you can also look forward to Amazon’s series that are exclusive only on Amazon Instant Video.

Costs (each month): Starts from as little as $7.99

Selection: Wide array of TV shows and movies

Although most of their movies are older classics, you can also find some TV shows, popular once and those that you might have never heard of before, since they got cancelled before finalizing the first season. However, Netflix is currently busy upgrading their selection of new movies and TV shows. Furthermore, viewers can expect a few series that was produced by Netflix itself.

Each of these options are excellent choices, you just need to take a look at your budget and interest. Netflix, Amazon and Hulu are good choices for those that are tired of Live TV. Roku would be perfect for those that likes a wide variety and would not like to pay monthly fees. If you like the idea of Live TV, however, prefers not to waste money on several channels that you will never watch, then opt for Sling TV. People who live in the areas where PlayStation Vue are offered, test it for free, who knows maybe you’ll love it. Finally, Traditional Satellite and Cable TV is the best option if you like the idea that there is always something to watch.

OLED Technology: Why it is the future of all your gadgets

Tech companies all over the world have been swooning over the revolutionary OLED technology. You must also have noticed and possibly wondering why tech magazines, electronic’s manufacturers among others have started practically worshipping OLED. Keep reading to find the answers to everything OLED. To understand the concept, imagine a television that is 80-inch wide and quarter of an inch thick. What if you could roll it up and carry wherever you go? Would you like flexible cell phones? Or a gadget that consumes considerably less power than the ones you have? All of this is only a few of the things that can be a reality with OLED. Now, let us take a closer look at the technology to understand it better.

 oled-technology lighing2

What is OLED?

OLED stands for Organic Light-Emitting Diode. In simple terms, OLED are minute solid-state devices that are made with organic compounds, which light up because of the movement of electrons through them. You can control the electricity to each OLED and either light it up or switch it off. Unlike LEDs, the OLEDs are so miniscule that they can be used as individual pixels on screens. They are very thin and flexible too. What makes them truly exceptional is that, since each pixel lights up independent of the others, it is highly reliable.

Picture Quality

A screen’s ability to produce quality pictures is highly dependent on its ability to produce deep shade of black. Screen capable of producing such blacks can manage rich colors, high contrast, and brilliant pictures. In this respect, OLEDs are a league ahead of LEDs. While LEDs struggle to produce dark blacks, OLEDs can go totally dark when they do not receive electricity. Actually, OLEDs produce deep dark blacks, unrivaled by any other technology. OLEDs can also produce a multitude of colors more than the LED screens – that is to say that, they produce many more shades of true picture colors.

OLED screens take up about 0.2 – 0.3 mm in width, which is 10 times less than that of LCDs. They are not only paper-thin, but also light as a feather, which makes them easily portable. These characteristics allow the manufacturers to design screens that are 80-inch wide. The same features allow OLEDs to be installed on smartphones, tablets, and laptops.

Other User-Experience factors

The OLEDs are light emitters, unlike LED/LCD TVs which block light. Because of this, the images on OLED screens are visible over far wider angles. Further, they take much less time to refresh compared to LCDs. This translates to minimal blurs during fast-motion scenes such as action movies or sports. An additional delightful characteristic of OLEDs is that they are incredibly flexible. As such, Samsung and LG, have already used OLEDs to create flexible cellphones.

Perhaps, this is the Achilles heel of the present OLED technology. The organic compounds used to create OLEDs degrade four times faster than the LCDs or LEDs. The compound used to create blue pixel is especially prone to faster degradation, resulting in the color distortion of other pixels. Manufacturers currently use various workarounds to overcome this issue in their devices. However, these are temporary solutions and a more permanent solution is yet to be found. Further, unlike LED/LCD technology, the OLED technology is not yet time-tested for its reliability.

Even with some challenges facing the technology, OLED has been nothing short of revolutionary. Labs across the world are already working on methods to harness it remarkable capabilities in numerous ways. The day is not far, when futuristic objects such as electronic newspapers, magazines, books, clothes, wall paintings, and so on, will become a reality, thanks to the paper-thin, lightweight technology, OLED.

Agent Carter

Inspired by the movies Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the series Agent Carter was created by Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus for ABC. The acting showrunners are Chris Dingess, Tara Butters, and Michele Fazekas. Agent Carter is produced by Marvel Television, ABC studios, and F&B Fazekas and Butters. The filming of Agent Carter took place from September 2014 to January 2015 in L.A.. Visual effects were provided by Industrial Light and Magic. On May 8th of 2014 the series was officially ordered and it aired its first season from January 6th, 2015 to February 24th, 2015.

Hayley Atwell, who also starred in the Captain America movies as well as One-Shot, will be continuing to play her Marvel Comics character Peggy Carter. The cast of Agent Carter also includes Shea Whigham as Roger Dooley; James D’Arcy as Edwin Jarvis; Enver Gjokaj as Daniel Sousa; Chad Michael Murray as Jack Thompson; Bridget Regan as Dottie Underwood; Kyle Bornheimer as Ray Krzeminski; Lyndsy Fonseca as Angie Martinelli; Ralph Brown as Johann Fennhoff; Meagan Fay as Miriam Fry; and Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark.

Agent Carter takes place in 1946 and the series is named after the main character; Peggy Carter, secretary in the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR). Howard Stark (Tony Stark’s father) secretly hires Carter to go on missions for him after he is accused of treason. Carter lives in the 40s, a generation where women were not expected to go as far as men, but she stands our from the stigma in Agent Carter. After losing Captain America, the love of her life, Carter finds herself a single woman trying to make a difference. Carter works together with Stark’s butler Edwin Jarvis and together they put everything on the line to find the truth and what’s right.

For the most part Agent Carter has received favorable reviews. Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 97% approval rating, Metacritic gives it 73%, gives it 8.8/10 stars and IMDb gives it 8.3/10 stars. Fans love and adore Agent Carter for her strong female role despite living in a period of time that was known to be somewhat oppressive towards women. People call Agent Carter fun and enjoyable. There are multiple reviewers which compare Carter with the Agents of Shield, saying that Carter proves to be the better of the two. Engaging and action-packed, positive reviews pour in giving testimony to what they believe is a quality T.V. series.

Critics argue that Agent Carter is, if anything, sexist, unsophisticated, and lackluster. Some reviews claim that Jarvis is challenging to tolerate and that Howard Stark doesn’t fill the void in the plot which he is intended to. They criticize the advanced technology which doesn’t suit the era, call the acting and the writing poor, and they claim the series is overall boring, childish, and cartoonish. Critics call Agent Carter a “hit and miss,” but there is still a pretty large fanbase and most of the reviews are enthusiastic and positive. Although Agent Carter clearly isn’t for everyone, there are plenty of people who have enjoyed the series.

Things You Didn’t Know About Girls (TV Show)

Girls is an American television series originally premiering on HBO in 2012. The show was created and stars Lena Dunham. The dramedy follows a close group of twenty-something year olds who live in New York City. Dunham’s real life experiences greatly influenced the story’s major plot developments. The series currently has four seasons that have aired to date, and has been renewed for a fifth season.

Like many shows before it, Girls is a coming of age story that follows Hannah (Dunham) as she grapples with becoming financially dependent and creating a life for herself without her parents supporting her any longer.

Girls has received praise for its realistic portrayal of women in the media, allowing for men to understand what real women are like. Inspired by her real life experiences, Dunham is able to masterfully create realistic characters that have both depth and personality. Saying that her show represents the lifestyle of women between Sex and the City and Gossip Girl, Girls provides a real view into the lives of women in the twenties who are desperately trying to figure out how life works.

The show was rated highly on Metacritic, receiving an approval rating of 87 out of 100 based on 29 reviews. James Poniewozik from Time credited the show as being “raw, audacious, nuance and richly, often excruciatingly funny.” Tim Goodman of The Hollywood Reporter was quoted as having said that Girls is “one of the most original, spot-on, no-missed-steps series in recent memory.” Similarly, the second season received equally high acclaim, receiving an overall rating of 88 on Metacritic based on 19 reviews. The third season received generally positive reviews, though only receiving an overall rating of 76 on Metacritic this time around. Girls has been nominated for 36 awards and has won 8 of them overall.girls-main-character

Dunham’s realistic characterization of women and their struggles in the early and mid-twenties has brought to light a series of assumptions the media had previously thought accurate, specifically, the question of abortion and how it affects the woman.  In Dunham’s version, however, it was a straightforward decision without the sensationalized drama. It was a medical procedure that was made with the patient’s best interests in mind. Dunham has accomplished a great feat in this depiction. She has shown a greater variety of how women deal with and consider abortion. For some, it’s an emotional struggle, and for others it’s a no-brainer.

The most important lesson by far in the series, however, is the struggle that many young adults have when it comes to deciphering what it means to be an “adult.” From a very young age, we’re told that being an adult is paying bills and having a house. It’s getting married and having children. However, Dunham has a different definition for being an adult, one that has very little to do with age, and everything to do with mental and emotional maturity. This refreshing take on real-life struggles of young adults, and women in particularly, is one of the few amazing aspects of Girls that allows the show to be all-encompassing despite its title and focus on women. It’s a show that demonstrates the universal struggles of women and twenty-somethings in general. Hop over here to find more television and Internet entertainment with Comcast Internet Plans.

6 Movie Mistakes to Spot in Marley and Me

Movie mistakes are fun to spot—there are even entire websites dedicated to detailing every little mistake to be found in thousands and thousands of films! Movie mistakes are common because they are almost inevitable to avoid, no matter how much attention to detail is paid during production.

Marley and Me (2008) comedy-drama film which tells the story of a rambunctious dog who is adopted by a married couple. The film, like all films, contains its share of mistakes. The following are 6 interesting movie mistakes you can spot in Marley & Me.

Audio Mistake
During the scene where Josh and Jenny’s young infant is crying, the child’s face is visible as Jenny hands him over to Josh. However, once you see the infant’s face, it is very obvious that the child isn’t crying. The audio was likely added in post-production, but their facial expression creations a visual error.

Continuity Mistake
During the scene where Sebastian and John meet in the beach bar to discuss their problems, there are numerous people walking by in the background. In every shot change, however, the people who are walking by are clearly different.

Continuity Mistake
In the scene where Josh and Marley visit the beach together, Josh is shown with visible sweat marks on the front of his t-shirt. In the first shot where the sweat marks appear, they are shown as a single line down his shirt. However, during the scene, the shape of the sweat marks changes several times–first to various sweat marks scattered across the shirt, back to the single line, and so on.

Continuity Mistake
In the scene where John is driving home with Marley in the car, Marley can be seen sitting without his collar on. However, when John pulls into the driveway and Marley is shown, his collar is suddenly around his neck.

Historical Mistake
The film is set during the 1990s. However, there are many noticeably modern cars visible in many shots.

Continuity Mistake
In the scene where John takes Marley to the Obedience School, the dogs in the background continually change with each shot. For example, a distinct Husky can be seen behind John and Marley in one shot; however in the next shot, the Husky is gone and replaced by a different dog. The Husky continually disappears and reappears throughout the Obedience School scene.

Why Cheers is One of the Best Sitcoms Ever Made

Thanks to popular streaming services, I had the recent pleasure of re-watching one of my favorite TV programs from my childhood, the wonderful series known as Cheers. I almost felt a little apprehensive.  Would it hold up after not having seen it for the last fifteen years?  I hadn’t seen more than a handful of episodes in that time and I wondered if it was as good as I remembered.

Not to worry, it was as good as I remember.

The best thing about Cheers is the well defined characters and their interactions and of course the chemistry with each cast member.  It’s such a simple set-up: a Boston bar, owned by former Major League relief pitcher Sam Malone, a little whole in the wall that’s nothing special, with a zany bunch of regulars that more or less spend their entire lives sitting and drinking.  Who needs to work and pay bills?

Sam Malone was a booze hound, ladies’ man, and local hero turned bar owner.  He’s not the brightest but he’s a tough minded man who knows what he wants.  The best counter to him is Diane Chambers, an over educated college drop out who finds herself trapped at Cheers working for tips and having to duke it out with the heathens.  Of course she and Sam fall madly in love.

Carla Tortelli can’t stand Diane and lets her know how she feels.  Carla works at Cheers as a waitress, has a gazillion kids and is pregnant most of the time in the early season and has an acerbic wit that can match any tough guy that comes in; in fact, she is the resident tough guy!

Clive Clavin, US postal worker and proud of it, anchors the end of the bar along with Norm Peterson.  Cliff can never shut up, he’s always spouting off useless information even when no one is listening.  Everyone knows Norm, he is the pillar of Cheers, the one who has been there since they invented beer, and is either looking for another job or another beer.

In later seasons, we see Coach, the dumb but good natured bartender, get replaced by Woody, the dumb but good natured farm boy from Indiana.  And when Diane leaves, she gets replaced by Rebecca, who takes over management duties of the bar, much to the chagrin of Sam.  We also see the development of psychiatrist Frasier Crane, who gets his own spin-off when Cheers leaves the air, and his disaster of a marriage to Lilith, who is robotic yet beautiful.

I spent a lot of this text on the characters of Cheers and not the actual show on purpose.  This show is the characters.  And that’s why I love it so much.

Why Was 911 Called For Lindsay Lohan?

In the early morning hours of June 15, Lindsay Lohan reportedly told members of the production team for the made-for-TV movie “Liz and Dick” that she was not feeling well during a phone call. She mentioned that she was feeling exhausted. Due to her reports, the production team sent a private doctor to examine her. While he was en route, the doctor contacted the hotel, to ask someone to check on Lohan. When someone from the hotel went to Lohan’s room, they came back and told the doctor that she was not coming to the door. In response, someone from the production team called 911.

Paramedics did respond to the call, but determined there was nothing physically wrong with her. They did not take her to the emergency room at the local hospital, and Lohan did not go, herself.

Witnesses say that Lohan had been shooting for 48 hours straight, with no sleep, on set. After shooting, she went back to her hotel room at the Ritz Carlton, in Marina del Rey, to get some rest. It was after her two day stint on the site, where the movie is being filmed, that she was reported as unresponsive. However, after the paramedics left, she was back on set that same morning, shooting some more.

Is “X Factor” 2012 Having Second Thoughts About Britney?

Whether it is cover up or truth, their might be a reason why Britney Spears reportedly walked off the stage of her first showing on the X Factor last week. Sources close to her say that Britney has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and that she is not able to take the meds for the disorder since it interferes with the meds she takes for her mental health.

The source also revealed that Britney was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder when she was in her teens and used to take medication that was prescribed to her to control it. Going on to say that since the meds helped her keep the condition under control, it just could be what happened on the stage since she isn’t getting the needed med now that interferes with her mental health problems medication. Her current physician team strictly prohibits the use of Ritalin or Adderall for the pop star, the two drugs of preference to treat ADHD.Britney-xfactor

The duo shakes it up with a very hot Samba for their second dance that Bruno thought was sexy. Carry Ann said it left her breathless and Len loved it all. The dance earned them a perfect 30 for a 58 point total.

The second team, Katherine and Mark, have a blast as they perform their Quickstep.

What Does The “American Idol” Runner-Up Receive?

Jessica Sanchez became a fast favorite for American Idol viewers. Although she did not win the American Idol crown, coming in second on America’s number one reality show usually has its perks and benefits, including instant fame, on-the-job-training and the opportunity to make a nice sum of money.

Typically, a runner-up could be guaranteed the opportunity to record an album, which came with the royalties advancement of around $175,000. This isn’t a bad deal for the second-place contestant. However, this year, it doesn’t appear that Sanchez will be receiving the same treatment.

Although the popular duo of Jolie and Pitt’s engagement brought out a lot of hype in celebrity talk, the engagement may become a long one. Only a month past the big event when Pitt placed the custom made rock on the love of his life’s finger, he reveals they are in no rush to tie the proverbial knot.

Per Pitt, the two actually have not talked about a date as he is busy promoting his new gangster movie, Killing Them Softly. He shares that they are not abandoning their original position that they would like same sex marriage to be legalized before they unite in marriage. His exact tone is that the couple hopes that the US can figure out marriage equality before their big date.

When asked why he decided to give Jolie a ring, his response was that it was a good time and it made sense to the duo. As he attended the Cannes Film Festival alone this year, Pitt showed up in a white T-shirt and grey suit, saying that Jolie was too busy working on her new film “Maleficent.” He goes on to say she is prepping for the movie.

Guest Star Not Well Received On “Drop Dead Diva”

The creator for “Drop Dead Diva”, Josh Berman, received a bad surprise when Kim Kardashian was announced as a guest star on the series’ fourth season. However, even after he found out that loyal fans of the show said they wouldn’t watch it, he is still going to let her appear. He said that it might be good for the show, to get the kind of publicity it would get from having Kardashian appear, and for having people talk about it.

Initially, when the news  was announced about Kardashian’s guest appearance, the reports were not good. Fans reacted to the news with some hostility towards the idea, which gave pause to the show’s executive producer and creator.

Berman said he was disappointed that people would say they weren’t going to watch the show just because of one of the guest stars. He went on to say that the show might benefit from all the talk. He said it might actually draw attention to the show, drawing attention from people that might not watch it otherwise. He went on to say that the show was not advertised, and there were no posters or billboards to catch the attention of potential viewers. If people are talking about the show, it was bringing attention to it.

Real Estate Luxury of the Celebs

There’s always been a desire to pass mansions from celebrity to celebrity in the Los Angeles area. The most recent change is the Beverly Hills Estate that “Idol” host Ryan Seacrest has in escrow to purchase for thirty seven million from Ellen DeGeneres and her partner Portia de Rossi.  The 9,200 square foot beauty has a main house and three guest houses, a swimming pool and koi ponds.

The most desirable feature of the Degeneres estate is its LA privacy with ordinances that won’t allow any future constructions of high walls and hedges, meaning that there are a very limited number of homes that will keep outsiders from catching any glimpse of the property, another reason the stars seem to trade the properties between them.  They own the best of the best.

The first criteria for a celebrity home is the privacy to keep the paparazzi away offers Billy Rose of The Agency, a popular LA luxury real estate firm.  He said when you drive a celeb around to view properties, the paparazzi is usually tagging along right on your heels. He goes on to say that his clients usually like properties tucked away behind long gated drives garnering guard houses and extreme security systems. Another local agent, Jade Mills, reveals that she has worked with everyone from Brittney Spears to Jerry Seinfeld and seclusion is the biggest amenity they are looking for.

Facebook Fiasco Remains a Nightmare

The nation is pointing lots of fingers about the public offering of Facebook last week. Most of the attention seems to be focused on the social media’s Chief Financial Officer Davis Ebersman, and the fact that he decided to increase the number of shares offered to investors by twenty five percent just days before the IPO.  According to Wall Street specialists, that move may have cost the social networking company the opportunity for its stock to jump on it’s first day of trading, the hallmark of a successful

Unfortunately, instead of the positive financial move this should have been, the Facebook IPO is rapidly becoming a legal and financial nightmare for the company and Wall Street. While there are plenty of complaints being made, the CFO is not one of them.

Not very long ago, the move to go public for Facebook was hyped as the deal of the century, but investors are now frustrated with at least three aspects of the IPO. The first issue was the failure of the NASDAQ computer systems on the morning of the deal. Lots of investors were unable to place or cancel stock orders, as well as being left in the dark as to whether their orders were even executed. The glitch may have caused lots of investors to lose money.

Similarities of Palin and Kardashian

It’s hard not to see the similarities between Sarah Palin and Kim Kardashian as they both continue to collect and string along a long list of followers and fans as well as draw a huge amount of criticism and ridicule from the public. Other things that give the two phenomenal celebrities a similar popularity is how the two established their sensational status as self made celebs, relying on reality TV to get them where they are in the world today.  Probably the most identical things about them is the fact that both love to be photographed and remain in the

Kardashian’s declaration to run for mayor of Glendale, California, had drawn triple criticism. First off, the requirements will not allow anybody to run and the stipulations are far from what Kardashian explained she would do.  According to Aedashes Kassakhian, the city’s clerk, Kim would have to establish residency there for 90 days and be registered to vote.

Another Lawsuit For J Lo

Jennifer Lopez seems to have gotten on an ex-employee’s bad side. Hakob Manoukian, a former driver for Lopez and her soon-to-be ex, Marc Anthony, is suing J Lo.

Manoukian drove for the couple in 2005, going from a mere driver to the Executive Head of Transportation. Manoukian claims he suffered damages and a loss of employment due to J Lo’s manager, Benny Medina, who Manoukian claims hated his guts, from the start.

The former driver was making at around $200,000 a year, for the privilege of being the Head of Transportation to one of the world’s most famous couples. It is alleged that during the filming of “What to Expect When You’re Expecting”, his duties put him in closer proximity with Medina, whom he says talked J Lo into demoting him. With the demotion came a loss of income. Manoukian is claiming that he suffered losses and damages because he owned and operated his own business before he drove for J Lo and Marc Anthony. When he received his promotion, he closed his personal business down. Due to his complaint against Medina, Manoukian is now going after his former boss, J Lo in court.

Catching Up On “Revenge”

From last episode of “Revenge” that aired months and months ago, the plot is slightly confusing.  It starts off with Emily, who has achieved revenge on the Graysons by having them accused falsely just as her father was (by the Graysons).  She also has no qualm against Daniel who is connected to what happened to her father, but only by association.  She also seems to like the way he looks, making it easier to forgive him.

Takeda realizes this and decides that if Emily makes any moves on Daniel she will let Amanda reveal everything about Emily to authority figures.  Amanda Clarke has gone missing, and the last link to her is her boyfriend.  Nolan ended up at a bar where Amanda’s boyfriend Jack was at as well, and it looked exactly like the hoodie that the sketch artist drew in order to reveal the identity of the perpetrator on the beach.

Jack freaks out about the insanely expensive five-million dollar transfer of money that Amanda makes.  He thought Amanda had murdered Tyler, but from recent clues it appears that she was not the perpetrator.

In this exciting vampire-packed rendition of “Community”, the focus is on relationships and jealousy.  With some interesting insights we learn that jealousy can be invoked even when love is not present in a relationship, and that coldness will only attract the other’s interest and fondness.

Dean was oddly enough playing with a train set as well as deciding to prepare for a carnival that would soon be coming through.

Peggy’s Mom was not happy to hear this and made it clear that the only house mate she would ever want Peggy to have was a cat.

Blake Shelton performed his new single “Over”. However, the first time he sang it, his microphone malfunctioned. The good news is, though, that the performance was recorded, so he was able to avoid any embarrassment. He did, however, have to sing the song twice.

The live audience was made to work. During pre-show preparation, those people that are allowed in the pit were asked to pass out glow rings for the song and performance of “Without You”, sang Monday night by Erin Willett. Electric candles were also handed out. These were for “Ava Maria”, performed by Chris Mann. They were told to only use these items for the correct songs. However, some were used when Carson Daly was introduced.

“Glee” Recap

GLEE - Just Give Me A Reason

For the Glee cast, McKinley’s senior prom was a little more important than a high school dance usually is on this past Tuesday’s show.

For Finn, played by Cory Monteith, and Rick “The Stick” Nelson, it meant coming down to the wire on who won the senior class prom king. There was also a surprise twist on who got crowned prom queen. That outcome helped move Rachel, played by Lea Michele, and Quinn, played by Dianna Agron, forward.

Glee premiere return

All Rachel could see was green- from envy, for the way Quinn and Finn were campaigning together on being prom king and queen. This spurred Rachel into an attempt to promote an anti-prom, which, of course, didn’t work. Quinn wants to beat Santana, and she wants it bad enough to use Finn, but Rachel doesn’t know that.
